Most Sikkim trips start in Gangtok, around 100 km from Darjeeling and 120 km from NJP. The road follows the Teesta through Rangpo, where you cross the state boundary, then climbs to roughly 1,650 metres.
Sikkim pairs naturally with Darjeeling: a common pattern is two or three nights in Darjeeling, the transfer across, then three nights in Gangtok with a day for Tsomgo Lake before heading back down for a flight or train.
March to May and October to early December are the settled seasons. Tsomgo and Nathula can close at short notice after snow, and the high passes are least reliable in January and February.
Gangtok is roughly 120 km from NJP and Bagdogra, usually four to five hours, and about 100 km from Darjeeling.
Before you travel. Permits: foreign nationals need an Inner Line Permit to enter Sikkim, and protected areas such as Tsomgo Lake and Nathula need a separate permit arranged locally through a registered agent. Rules change by season and nationality, so message us before you book and we will tell you what currently applies to your group.
Send us your dates and pickup point and we will come back with a fixed fare and a confirmed driver.
